How to Become a Successful Writer - Tip #10
10. Steal time for writing whenever and wherever you can find it.
In a perfect world, we would all have endless hours to dedicate to just writing, but for a lot of us, this is unrealistic. Whether you have another job, family and life responsibilities, etc., you have a very finite amount of time to write. This is NOT an excuse! I repeat…this is NOT an excuse! I’ve maintained a full-time job the entire time I’ve been professionally writing. Many people don’t know, but I am also a Marketing & New Media Manager. I work Monday-Friday usually, and my work is very time consuming, so I use this tip a lot. Before I became a Marketing Manager, I worked in a hospital as an Admitting Representative, and most of my shifts were graveyard. Luckily, things were usually slow, so I used that time to WRITE, WRITE, WRITE! Even if it’s just you jotting down notes or writing for 5-10 minutes at a time, try to stay in that frame of mind. I finished 9 books while working full-time. It’s definitely not easy, but remember, anything you want bad enough, you’ll make time for it.
