How to Become a Dope Writer - Tip #34

May 30, 2016

34. Don't be afraid to cut it!

Sometimes, when we write, the words just flow effortlessly...almost perfectly, but when you go back to re-read or even edit, you find that a line that stood out in the beginning either feels out of place or doesn’t make sense at all. If this happens to you, don’t be afraid to cut it! Or if you’re really stuck on a particular line or paragraph, try readjusting it by placing it somewhere else within the story, making sure it fits of course. I like to think of my work like puzzle pieces. Once I’m done writing (creating the puzzle pieces), I then can move them to where they fit best (editing/re-writing) to create the best picture that I envisioned.
