How to Become a Dope Writer - Tip #38

June 13, 2016

38. Force yourself to disconnect!

Social media is the one thing that I think transcends race, age, sex, etc. It has become such an integral part of our everyday lives, which can sometimes be a good thing...other times, not so much. As a writer, I am not the type to have a lot of things going on all at once when I’m writing. My perfect setting is to be in complete silence. My thoughts just flow better that way. For others, you may like to have music playing or even have the TV on in the background. Do what works for you! But do try to eliminate as many distractions as you can. This means, turn of your cellphone, email, Facebook, Twitter, IG, SnapChat, and/or various conversations with others. Give yourself time to become completely immersed in your writing. I promise you will not be disappointed.
