How to Become a Successful Writer - Tip #42

June 27, 2016

 42. When facing writer's block, do something mindless.

I am a writer who can only write when I have some sort of direction, and sometimes that's less than I would like. Of course, I keep myself busy by drafting, editing, outlining, making notes, etc., but if I find myself completely blocked, I take a break and do something that has nothing to do with writing. I find that this allows my subconscious to work in the background, and I don't have to sit around stressing and staring down at a blank piece of paper. If this is you, just relax. Writer's block usually doesn't last too long, so take a break and go for a walk. You'll find yourself back writing in no time!

What are some ways you eliminate writer's block? I would love to hear from you!
